Momentum Permissions Overview

Momentum installation is done in three easy steps. We've listed details about the system access you’ll need and the changes we’ll be applying so there are no surprises during our installation session. Once the process is complete, your team will be ready to use Momentum.

We'll need the following 3 admin privileges to install:

  • Slack system administrator permissions
  • Salesforce system administrator permissions
  • Video conferencing administrator permissions

✅ Step 1: Installing the Momentum Slack app

Please click this link to Install Momentum in Slack ->

What does the installation do?

Momentum will access specific Slack permissions like posting messages or inviting participants to channels. The app will show up as a Slack app for your whole team to interact with, but it won’t proactively contact any of your team members on its own.

Why do you need to do it?

Momentum’s main interactions and workflows are built on top of Slack. Our Slack app is fundamental to delivering a top-of-the-line experience to the members of your team who will be taking advantage of Momentum to close deals and take call notes.

Warnings and considerations

Momentum won’t be reading messages and history from any channels it’s not invited to. Momentum doesn’t need to be invited to every channel in your organization.

✅ Step 2: Granting Momentum access to Salesforce

Go to the Momentum App in Slack (Cmd + K → Momentum), click the Home tab at the top, and click Authorize.

What does the installation do?

Granting Momentum access will let it bootstrap its configuration. We’ll read the list of Salesforce users in your organization, the list of stages and custom fields in your Opportunity, Lead, Contact, Task, and Account objects, and other foundational settings that allow Momentum to read from and write into Salesforce.

Why do you need to do it?

One of Momentum’s core value propositions is its ability to read and manage Opportunities, Accounts, Leads,, and Tasks directly in Slack. Allowing Momentum to understand the types of fields your objects have is fundamental to let users read and write these from Momentum.

Warnings and considerations

Momentum doesn't require you to change your Salesforce configuration, or install a new package. Access permissions via Salesforce Oauth is the only step needed. Users, fields, custom objects, and other settings are read upon initial installation. Other administrative tasks that require us to read these and refresh Momentum’s local configuration will continue to execute during the regular operation of the product.

✅ Step 3 (optional): Granting Momentum access to your team's video conferencing

Please review the documentation to the left for your specific call recording tool.

This is the only step that may change a bit depending on your team's tech stack. If your team intends on using Momentum AI, you'll be required to provide access to your team's video calls. Depending on whether you have a call recording tool in place like Gong or Clari Copilot, or wether your team uses Zoom or Google Meet for calls, the steps here may be different.

Here is the needed access depending on your team's setup:

Gong: A Gong Technical Administrator account is needed. No other privileges or steps are required for a complete installation.

Clari Copilot: A Copilot Access Token is needed. No other privileges or steps are required for a complete installation.

Dialpad: A Dialpad Integration Token is needed. No other privileges or steps are required for a complete installation.

Google Meet: A Google Workspace admin is needed.

Zoom: A Zoom Business One license is needed. A Zoom Administrator is needed.

What does the installation do?

This step provides Momentum AI with the means to collect customer call data. Their title, attendees, transcript and video recording.

Why do you need to do it?

To be able to analyze customer calls, connect those calls with objects in your CRM, and update the CRM accordingly, Momentum will need record and transcribe your team's calls. Calendar details will allow Momentum to detect a new meeting, see the meeting attendees, while the call transcript will provide the content to analyze.

Warnings and considerations

Depending on the tools being used your team, this step may require only administrator access (in the case of Zoom, Gong, Dialpad, and Copilot), or individual reps' providing calendar access. When granted, these will provide Momentum access to read reps' calendar events and meetings.
